Reseña-Review: Ugly Love

Autora: Colleen Hoover
Editorial: Atria Books
Género: Romance Contemporáneo
Autoconclusivo
Sinopsis
*****
When Tate Collins meets airline pilot Miles Archer, she doesn't think it's love at first sight. They wouldn’t even go so far as to consider themselves friends. The only thing Tate and Miles have in common is an undeniable mutual attraction. Once their desires are out in the open, they realize they have the perfect set-up. He doesn’t want love, she doesn’t have time for love, so that just leaves the sex. Their arrangement could be surprisingly seamless, as long as Tate can stick to the only two rules Miles has for her. Never ask about the past. Don’t expect a future.
They think they can handle it, but realize almost immediately they can’t handle it at all.
Hearts get infiltrated.
Promises get broken.
Rules get shattered.
Love gets ugly.

∾ Personal Opinion

After reading Hopeless, which was a beautiful surprise for me, I was looking forward to read another story from Colleen Hoover. Unfortunately, any publisher seems to be on the way of make a translate of another novel of the author. Then, with the shot in the arm from mi friend  Lorena, I bought a copy of Ugly love in his original lenguaje, and it have been a funny reading, and I've enjoyed a lot. In addition, it have been a coordinated reading and we've commented all the things that they were happening. If you can read this book, I recommend you!

Tate is a young nurse that is in her last years of an advanced class with the idea to be capable to work in a medical center or similar. It's for this reason that she moves to San Francisco city and specifically to the apartment of her older brother Corbin. He works as a pilot in an airlines company and is most of the time out of home, so the easiest thing is that she moves with him until she has her own place. In the very first moment that she arrives to the apartment, she finds out that there are a drunk man lying in front of the door and she can´t enter without move or touch him. But unexpected, he are one of the best friends of Corbin, besides neighbor and work partner in the airlines. When her brother say to her by phone that she has to allow him to rest in the couch all night, she tries to take care of him as well as it's possible with a man in his state. After that, Tate begins to have some kind of attraction for her charismatic and mysterious neighbor that seems to hide something else under all that ice.

Miles works as a pilot and he is totally closed to love. Attractive and single, is a big mystery, even for his friend Corbin. He works without rest and he hasn't time not even to decorate his own apartment, despite he have been living there for four years. At the beginning of the novel we don't know what happened to Miles in his past to make that he behaves in that way, but when you go through the story you have more details, and you can understand his attitude. Is that kind of character that seems to be behind a wall, but when you can see some light through a hole on this wall you fall in love with him.

Colleen has a personal way to write her stories and is capable of change a simple story into an epic one that can touch your heart. She allows you to connect with the characters and feel their feelings in your own skin. I love this way of writing and I am sure that I will read all the novels that she put on sale.

The story alternates between present and past. The present chapters are narrate for Tate, and the past chapters for Miles. It allows you to know what happened in the past by the hand of his own protagonist. This fact please me and it gives to the novel a very agile rhythm. The past of Miles makes me cry in few moments and I could understand more things about him.

In spite of that I haven't read in English in the last year I've found myself very comfortable. I think that Colleen don´t use difficult words or a confusing narrative, and this makes me easier to read the novel and connect with the characters and the story. In fact, I couldn't stop to read and the book lasted me only a couple of days.

I'm looking forward that any publisher gives another opportunity to the author because she writes  a pretty beautiful stories that deserves to be known for all the Spanish readers. The author has said at the social networks that this novel will be brought to theaters because one producer have bought the rights. Even there are some rumors about a posible casting. I cross my fingers because it is a film that I will go to watch for sure.

She makes me fall in love with Hopeless and she has returned to do it with Ugly Love. A story that has a little piece of love, sex, friendship, laughs...but also coolness, arguments and sadness. A perfect mixture, a book that surprised me.

P.S. This is my first review in English, If you see something that I can improve or fix it, please be free to let me know!! :)
